Treasure


Look at your palms
The lines are therapeutical
Look at your eyes
The lens are prophetic
Look at your height
The length is majestic

There is beauty
In your artistry

There is a future
In your tomorrow
In it your ancestry
Reckons
And beckons

So break free oh damsel
From the whirlwind
Of the screeching earth
To learn
The lines on your palm

Break free oh damsel
From the shortsightedness
Of this earth
To ease the lens of your eyes
The stress of of blind tidings

So, you came to earth
Like a minstrel
With tambourine
To sing sweet Tangerine's melody
To this earth

In you
There's hope hung on
The colours of tinted religion

In you
There's a land
Whose fertility is agile and virile

In you
There's a bowel
Expansive and branded
To heal anthropocentrically
The wailing of a youthful generation...

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Uzah Ephraim Oryiman is  a graduate of English from IBB University, Lapai, Niger state. He is an aspiring writer whose interest has been in drama and poetry. His debut play "The Herb" (unpublished) has been stage by shinning star(dance and drama troupe, Lapai Niger state) and by Naseldram (IBB university drama club with three Nollywood stars present). His poems have appeared in Ebedi international magazine(2017, 2018 editions) as well as other sites and blogs. He is currently undergoing the one year compulsory National Youth Service Corp program in Kaduna, Kaduna state. He is currently working on his second play under the title of Giwa's Swing! He has a collection of poetry under manuscript with the title "Strange Quest and other poems".
