A JOURNEY OF DIDACTIC LESSONS

BY UZAH EPHRAIM ORYIMAN

PART 1

Our journey to Champion Faith International Ministry Abuja workers' conference, began with a thrilling desire and enthusiasm of the glitters that comes with travelling. For most of us were endeared by two things: first, the gamut of emotion gathered from the thoughts of meeting the General
Overseer and President of Champion Faith Nation, Apostle God's Power Udjor, Phd, second, the alluring care and love that await us as we chant, roaring our voices above the deep echoes of travelling vehicles, knowing that we travel with a convivial, genial, ebullient Mama and Senior Pastor of the Champion Faith Assembly, Kaduna, the amiable Pastor Bae.

On the cold morning of the 12th of March, 2020, in the church premises, we packed our bags with a feeling nostalgia, not of a homecoming but of a step taken for redemption sake.  One could have a thought of prepackaged journey, travelling to the most precious capital city of the throbbing west African region of Nigeria. Nonetheless, we embarked on the journey with a fearless zest knowing we had the company of the spirit of the father!

Under the ambiance of this thought, we travelled with splendid euphoria- we danced when necessary, sang and eat and spoke about things that concern youth. The roads would never swallow us, we had prayed. Death would reject us we had been prayed for. So, the Kaduna-Abuja express way didn't trouble us! We had no fears of different waves of kidnappings that had plagued the roads of recent, for we had been covered by the blood of the Passover Lamb.
As we journeyed heartily, we could feel the perfumed nature of mixed Nigerian air, the combusted air that flames the road! We conceited our euphoria in the feelings of a communion felt among faithfuls.

While we communicated with Mama via the social media church platform, we had the company of her humour and easy acceptance; we had lots of talks to take our minds out of the recluse of a boring journey. Mama's online vivacity gave us the opinion of a woman who has gone ahead in all ramification of life, but has decided to come down to fullest to accommodate everybody that comes her way. Meanwhile, we chatted happily, but refuting our thoughts and refining our knowledge so we could earnestly tap from her wisdom.
Part of her quest as human, like she has always said is to see an independent generation free from the manacles of failure, reproach and retrenchment. She had shown in her strides that life can only be lived by those who are relentless; those whose livers are hardened. Life would never wait for us she always warned!
However, Elijah, one of the newest member of the church, who had grown popular among the faithfuls, filled the topic of discussion, he had kept a frolic face, partly because of his cute nature and avalanche of God's gift on him, and apparently because he too like Mama is a convivial personnel. While he discusses, he recounts his first time coming to the church and this is how he narrates:
“My coming to church is not accidental. I had prayed for a better place of worship. While it appears so easy for me to operate well within the shortest possible period of my stay in the church is because I found people with a glorious drive for worship and a youthful generation that are saturated for success not individually but on a collective mantra.”
His revelations were humbling and deserving and teaching as well. Success is a leit-motif in the church. In fact, it is the driving force behind the calling of restoring destinies.
Tony, the handsome, talented pianist did not let us feel bored- he played all the afro gospel for us, Tim Godfrey's ‘’Onaga’’ and Frank Edward's ’Under the Canopy,’’ were on the repeat, if we had spaced within the space less Sharon, we would dance. Minister Tope, the Highest Dimension president Kaduna chapter and CEO of REVAYAH CHICKEN PLC, did not let us go hungry. There were breads, fruits, juice, and water all coming from him. There is little wonder he has been tagged the next world rated philanthropist
With all of these, we knew our going to Abuja would be blessed! We all mimicked Mama`s way of talking. Everybody did speak and we collectively agreed that the expression “If I slap you, you`ll reboot to factory reset” is her most preferred way of restoring destinies.
